Dr. Herbert Kohler holds the positions of vice president, group research & advanced engineering vehicle and powertrain, Mercedes-Benz Car, and chief environmental officer for Daimler AG. In these roles, he is responsible for Daimler’s propulsion, body, materials and production technology, as well as its environmental policies.
Prof. Dr. Kohler has been with (formerly named) Daimler-Benz AG since 1976. Under his leadership, the Environment, Technology and Traffic Center was founded in 1992. Prof. Dr. Kohler has also worked with passenger car development and strategic product planning (taking the lead on strategic product planning).
In 1982, Prof. Dr. Kohler earned his PhD in engineering from Stuttgart University, who appointed him an honorary professor in 1998.
